Word Art Self-Portraits

For our word art self-portrait, students began the project by taking photos of themselves and then compiling a list of over 100 words that were relevant to their interests, background, etc. In Adobe Illustrator, students began the process choosing a font and then placing and warping words. The focus of this assignment is understanding negative space and how to use it effectively. After designing their initial composition in black and white, students then made several versions in color, based on analogous, split-complimentary, triadic, and tetradic color schemes.
